I have been waiting to write this post.. Well, I had to take a day off for my blogging pleasure! 😉
Switzerland is known for its awesome scenic beauty. And this Trummelbach waterfalls is THE BEST of all that I saw in Swizz. Of course I was very much impressed and excited by the snow-capped mountains of Jungfro, but still, some thing was drawing me very much here in this Trummelbach falls. May be, it was the extra-ordinary power of water which attracted me more here. Well.. it was kinda thrilling and reverberating experience at the falls and that was why I was actually ‘waiting’ to write this post..
We were staying at Interlaken and we took a bus to go to Trummelbach. It was n’t far off.. And as we neared the falls, I could see other falls on the way from the top of mountains..
This one (in the left) was actually appearing as a small thin line and when I zoomed, I was really surprised by the great force with which it was falling from the top of the mountain.. The power of nature!
Well, as soon as I saw that, I was expecting Trummelbach also something similar. But when we reached Trummelbach, I couldn’t find anything at all. No waterfall! It was then we realized what we are going to witness. A waterfall within the mountain – well inside the mountain!
The waterfalls was nothing short of a real wonder and what is more wonderful is how the Swiz govt. made it accessible by constructing lifts and illuminating inside the mountain. That was really awesome!
It is a very big, tall mountain and from the top of it, some glacier is melting and coming down as a waterfall. And this waterfall which is very strong, giant and powerful inside the mountain, comes out as a pleasant small baby waterfall outside.
Inside the mountain, the waterfall can be seen from around 5 levels / floors. Once you are inside the mountain and have crossed the first level, its actually complete darkness! It was really surprising that the water has so much strength to enter into those areas where light couldn’t enter. But now, they are all well illuminated for the tourists. Well, waterfalls was not the only one to explore! 😉
Also, once inside, you can’t hear yourself properly. The waterfalls makes that much noise! You see, it is it’s kingdom! All you can do is, just relax and enjoy watching it! Watching the incredible force shaping the solid rock with great majestic roar!
Each and every moment I spent inside the mountain, I was really stunned by the force with which the water was falling down from the top of the mountain. It was so fiercefull with such a great force that it was actually carving the solid mountain rock according to its chosen way of flowing.. It was in fact a bit scary! Think what would happen if a human being was on its way! It had carved and dug out the rocky mountain! Can we – ‘just a small piece of flesh’ stand in its way? Man! I would be smashed to just a jam!
Can you see how the water flows beyond the stagnation? Below is the same fall taken at a higher level:
As we move higher and higher, we can see the force is greater and greater. Also, it became really so dark that it was difficult to take good pictures there.
Only when we moved to the top level, we could see some sun again!
And also, there were some side entrances for catching up the side views of the falls. Those side views are also something not to be missed. There again you could see the great force along with some sun light! 🙂
I felt really blessed to have visited the falls. I felt like we are all just small creatures with very limited power and with that itself, we just think we can do anything! I was struck by the power of nature and felt like that was just GOD! I mean, I have never encountered such a great force and power and majesty in my life.. So, I felt like I had witnessed some thing super-natural, extra-ordinary or whatever! I was filled with reverence for nature! It was simply GREAT!
Something which should not be missed at all if you are visiting Switzerland!
