Dallas Buyers Club

One of the most inspiring movies I’ve seen in the recent past.

This movie is basically about someone who doesn’t want to give up just because the doctors have given him only 30 days to live!

He fights AIDS and lives 7 years after he was diagnosed with the deadly disease. The movie is all about how he does that and lives those 7 years of his life to the fullest!

No wonder it is nominated for Oscars and has already won several awards! Though the movie had a slow start, now the producers have made 20 times more money than what they originally invested!

What inspired me most in this movie – is this guy’s spirit to fight death and not just yield in to the words of the doctors. I’ve everything but I get so complacent that I am wasting lot of time and energy on unimportant things. But this guy (btw, this movie is based on true story), who is almost on the verge of death is climbing up the ladder of hope and determination to fight back death and doesn’t let go of his self-esteem though his world has turned him down! That’s a lesson to be learnt for anyone who wants to live in this world!

And one thing I felt incredible about this movie was the way Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey) is shown healthily and also in his terminal stage just like a HIV +ve patient. It was so realistic that you would start pitying Matthew McConaughey! And I think I really should, because, this actor has lost around 50 pounds to get that sick look! 😉 Reminds me of Kamal Hassan! Who knows he might adopt this movie in Tamil sometime soon!

So, have you watched this movie recently? If not, I suggest you must watch this! If you have, what are your thoughts about this movie? Did you like it?
